Background
I grew up in Suffolk, spent a few years in Colchester at the University of Essex and then moved to Lancashire in 2007.
I have a background in computing, with academic and industrial experience from both scientific and IT-oriented roles.
Academic Background
I am a PhD student at Lancaster University. My subject area is based around wireless sensor networks; bringing together my main academic interests of networks and embedded systems.
I hold a first class Honours degree in Computer Science (Embedded Systems and Robotics) from the University of Essex. I also hold an AA grade Advanced Vocational Certificate in ICT.

Industrial Experience
I have previous experience in software development, proof-of-concept, IT support, customer service, student support, management and retail.
I have industrial and academic experience of C and Java. I am an experienced user of various Windows and Linux environments, having supported such systems commercially.
Hobbies
I have interests in radio, electronics, science fiction, travelling, outdoors and comedy.
