Photos Now on Fotopic

3rd November 2007

I've moved all the photos onto Fotopic, and added new collections from recent visits to the Lake District and Wales.

Photos Online!

26th August 2007

A selection of photos from my archive are now online from the first and last year at essex. See the Photos page for more.

Site Updates

18th August 2007

A new section dedicated to information about the Psion PDA is now available. It is work in progress.

A number of site updates have been made to make things a bit cleaner and easier to update. The section on the train project has been split into multiple pages and spruced up a bit.

Other updates on the way, remember that blogs are in a seperate part of the website.

Up North

12th July 2007

I've updated the website because I recently moved up north.

I've already gone up Scafell Pike with Pete, having taken advice not to ignore the Lake District... I did not plan to goto the top of the tallest one first, I was tricked. I took a radio with me, and made an unplanned CQ from the top and made only six contacts before getting too cold for comfort. Radio communication was certainly easier than using a mobile phone!

Various Updates Made

9th June 2007

Details of my final year project, and a downloadable presentation, are now available: here.

I dug out some old blogs from 2003 and 2004, read them here.

Train Project Finally Ends

9th May 2007

The presentation, which completes my final year project, has finally been given. I thought I liked it...

Sorry to those who wanted to play with the set, unfortunately I had to dismantle it rather quickly due to other commitments and the need to return equipment.

Further details of the project and a download of the presentation will go online some time in June.

Embedded Networking Presentation Wins Second Prize

8th March 2007

The presentation "Guaranteeing Network Message Delivery with Memory Limited Real Time Systems" won the second prize at the IET Younger Members Evening at the University of Essex.

"It is often necessary for embedded systems to send messages to other systems with some certainty that the message will be delivered. However on real time systems, where waiting may not be possible, special approaches are needed to store outgoing messages in the difficult memory limitations of some devices. This presentation will show one approach and explore it's limitations and identify why other approaches are not necessarily possible."

Read about this on the local IET website or download the slides here in PDF format!

Train Project Appears in Magazine

19th February 2007

The networked train control project has appeared in the University of Essex magazine Wyvern, after RadioMetrix donated equipment.

Another Facelift

15th February 2007

Some content might arrive soon... Stay tuned!

New Site

30th December 2006

I've copied the (more basic) design from the EARS website with a view of producing a larger website that is more manageable. The old website was a mess that involved MySQL and was overkill.

In due course, the old blogs will make their way over. New blogs will also be added. Remember, I don't see a blog as a diary...
