Installing Linux Course

This course provides a practical and hands-on experience in installing the latest distributions of the Linux operating system on a virtual machine. By the end of the course you should be confident enough to install Linux on your own machines.

Downloads

Before attending this course, you will need to download VirtualBox and the first Debian Linux disc image. You can also turn up with a laptop with the aim of replacing Windows with Linux. If you do this, then you will need to backup your files first.

• VirtualBox - Download and install for either Windows or Mac OSX depending on your laptop.
• Debian - Find the disc images and download the first CD.
• Mirror Service - Direct link to ISO files. Get CD-1.iso (approx 700MB)

Previous courses installed OpenSuSe Linux, but this was found to be too slow.
