Interesting note: A member of the audience said that such approaches were a waste of time, because technology gets better over time and thus threading would become available. It is interesting to observe that Wireless Sensor Network approaches use Moore's Law to utilise economic and size benefits from evolution - rather than speed and ability. These approaches are therefore not so bad, afterall!
